Event Details

We will be hosting our first EG&S KTN lunchtime webinar on Wednesday the 16th of June, at 12:30pm. The idea is that you’ll be able to watch and listen to the presentation from your computer, asking questions via microphone or text message. This is a new venture for us, so we’re very excited to see how it will work. The presentation’ll be between 20-30 minutes long, with around 20 minutes at the end for questions.

Our inaugural speaker will be Professor Seamus Garvey of the University of Nottingham, who will be talking to us about his ICARES compressed-air energy storage concept. The technology utilises offshore wind turbines to produce mechanical energy in the form of compressed air, rather than electrical energy. The compressed air these generate would be piped down into giant balloons (20 metres in diameter) anchored 500 metres below the surface of the sea. The high pressure that far down will prevent the compressed air from expanding until it is needed to create electricity, at which point it will be passed through turbines to create electricity.

Register by clicking the link above - we'll send you an email nearer the time with details of how to access the event.
